Introduction of Opera
According to the Oxford, dictionary, an opera is a dramatic work in which all or most of the words are sung to music; works of this type as an art form or entertainment. Opera is a theatrical drama told in music through powerful, unamplified voices. Opera combines many art forms such as vocal and music, theatre, drama, visual arts, fashion designing, dance and many more. It is not only a singers performance but is a reflection of a collection of many artists, designers, musicians. Basically, Opera is just like a play except all of the words are sung. Actually, operas are sung in many languages namely French, Italian, German, Russian and more. In 1597 Jacopo Peri composed the first opera which is Dafne but unfortunately, the music notations have been lost. Then the earliest opera that is still performed today is L ' Orfeo by Claudio Monteverdi. It was composed in 1607.
Normally Operas are performed at an opera house or theatre. Namely, Royal Opera house - London, Lascala - Italy, The Bolshoi - Russia, Sydney opera house - Australia are some of them. The Opera houses are designed especially for performances on a ground scale. The singers and actors who perform in front of the backstage area. Below the opera stage, you can see the "PIT" which is designed for the orchestra. That is the normal structure of an opera house.
